the story behind hey bestie

A group of nine women and girls pose together outdoors in front of a modern building with large glass windows and palm trees. They are smiling, standing close, some with hands on knees, and wearing casual athletic clothing.

Hey Bestie: Cola

Hey Bestie started in Columbia, South Carolina, in March 2025 from a seemingly far-fetched dream and a simple instagram dm: β€œhey bestie, did you ever start that run club you were talking about?”

It was built to make running feel less intimidating and more social. No pace requirements and no pressure to keep up. Just show up, move your body, and meet some people along the way.

And people showed up.

We quickly realized they weren't just coming back for the runs. They were coming back for the community and the feeling of walking into something knowing you already had a place there.

A group of ten people standing together outside a storefront with a dark door and window, smiling and holding drinks, along with a black dog with brown markings, in front of a sidewalk in daytime.

We're here to make movement more social, friendship a little easier to find, and our city feel a little smaller.

We’re all besties here.

Come exactly as you are β€” this is a community where everyone deserves to feel welcome, respected, and safe. Every body, every pace, every person has a place here.

In 2026, we became Hey Bestie: Movement Club and began growth to other cities.Running is still part of us, but movement doesn't have to look one way.
